The Applications Engineer supports Sales and Operations teams. Supports new business with existing and new customers; visit customers; identifies new product opportunities and stays current with optical industry trends and technology.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide technical support
Develops acceptance test procedures for new orders
Understands and communicates customer specifications to engineering and manufacturing
Determine customers’ delivery, price and quality expectations
Understand key customers’ products and services
Cross sell CVI Laser Optics products and system integration whenever possible
Visit customers on average once per quarter (more travel possible at peak periods)
Identify competitors’ strengths and weaknesses for CVI Laser Optic’s top customers while developing selling solutions to address these items.
Communicates with customers to consolidate specs and recommend configurations
Prepares quote packages including specifications, drawings, cost worksheets and acceptance test documentation
Develops and maintains successful and professional relationship with customers ensuring that all customer needs are satisfied and that the company maintains a reputation for customer satisfaction
Qualifies and disqualifies opportunities as appropriate
Develops accurate information concerning prospect and customer needs, and effectively communicates the information to company decision makers and team members
Assists in obtaining customer acceptance of company products.
Responds to prospects, customers and coworkers in a timely and professional manner.
Actively participates in all customer support programs including concurrent engineering and development projects.
Maintains accurate and timely activity and customer report
Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/TRAINING/WORK RELATED EXPERIENCE:
B.S. in engineering (Optical Engineering preferred)
2-4 years industry experience preferred
Experience with high energy lasers, opto-mechanical components and opto-mechanical assemblies
Ability to lead sales processes from design to purchase order
Ability to lead complex quote processes with customers, suppliers and manufacturing engineers.
Strong listening skills
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Effective presentation skills
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
Ability to read and understand technical drawings
This position requires compliance with ITAR Regulations; this person must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident.
