Manufacturing Engineering Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for managing all details of manufacturing processes from specifying manufacturable specs, new part creation, defining manufacturing methods and metrology requirements. The primary responsibilities of this position included: providing technical support for Sales quote, specifying specs for products and setting up right manufacturing processes, troubleshooting production problems, managing resources to minimize the manufacturing time, documenting necessary engineering and metrology processes, continuously improving manufacturing processes, and managing engineering projects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

§ Manage engineering projects

§ Manage all aspects of CVI’s products’ engineering needs

§ Establish and/or impro ve business metrics to maintain profitability

§ Responsible for continuous process improvement

§ Improve product yield

§ Help Sales to get new business

§ Experience in managing diverse, multi-discipline technology programs

§ Exceptional leadership, interpersonal and management skills

  • Perform detailed analysis

  • Prepare analysis and presentations using MS Office products and other related software

  • Maintain positive business relationship with customers

  • Participate in sales process

  • This job position requires compliance with ITAR Regulations. Therefore, all employees working in this capacity must meet citizenship status. Per the IDEX Optical Technologies’ Export Controls Policy and Procedure, the employee must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident .

  • Complies with health and safety policies and procedures submits accurate expense reports on a timely basis

EDUCATION/TRAINING/WORK RELATED EXPERIENCE

  • BS in Physics, Optical Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, in a manufacturing environment, prefer MS degree or higher in science field.

  • At least 4 years’ experience in customer-based product manufacturing process. Optics related industry preferred.

  • Experience in engineering environments and leading projects teams preferred.

  • Experience with interpretation of engineering drawings; familiarity of MIL Standards, and ISO Standards for optics

  • Experience in Program Management

  • Good interactive people skills with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, management and /or individuals

  • Ability to appraise a situation through data analysis and facilitate process improvements

  • Experience with MS Project, MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

  • Strong listening skills and ability to multi-task

  • Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

  • Experience with Statistical Techniques

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customer’s regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management and public groups.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT/WORKING CONDITIONS: (when in production area) ability to:

  • Uses eyesight for all aspects of the job

  • Perform sedentary work at a desk or work station

  • Operate computerized equipment and perform calculations

  • Perform legible written communication

  • Demonstrate upper body mobility to use the telephone and operate computer system

  • Bend as necessary for sitting and using computers and the telephone

  • Minimal fumes from alcohol and acetone (used when cleaning equipment and optics)

  • Continuous background noise from equipment

  • Bright lights used production areas

PHYSICAL CLASSIFICATION OF JOB :

Medium Work: The ability to lift up to fifty pounds occasionally or up to fifteen pounds frequently. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job is in this category when it requires standing or sitting to a significant degree of pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls or both.
