The successful candidate will be hands on as a player/coach, working with and leading a group of assembly technicians supporting a growing product line focused on complex subsystem assemblies. This role will provide opportunities for professional growth and development, with career paths ranging from advancement in Engineering and/or Operations roles.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports the manufacturing engineering function through hands on manufacturing engagement. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Hands on responsibility of ensuring product is built to meet performance, quality and delivery specifications.
Provides daily production guidance to Assembly Technicians
Trains technicians on work instructions and assembly best practices
Maintains and improves work instructions as required
Teams with CVI Sales, Production, Quality, Planning and other functions to respond to new and modified product design requests.
Leads CVI Engineering’s design and development process, including configuration management and production approval processes.
Teams with CVI Quality Assurance to initiate and lead root cause investigations with containment plans and corrective and preventative actions.
Determines critical parameters for process control given end objectives and requirements.
Identifies, recommends and drives process capability improvements.

PROFESSIONAL, EDUCATIONAL, AND TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, or equivalent field desirable
General manufacturing engineering and or manufacturing assembly expertise with 2 or more years related work experience.
Experience with reviewing and applying a variety of job-related instructions and documents, including engineering drawings.
Statistical data collection, analysis, and solution implementation experience.
Previous experience manufacturing of OEM products desirable.
Proven understanding of lean and design for manufacturing principles. Six Sigma Green or Black belt preferred.
Working proficiency in Solidworks or other 3D CAD software desirable
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Bend as is necessary for sitting, using computers, using the telephone, and computer mouse
Demonstrate eye-hand coordination
Operate testing and measuring equipment
Bend as is necessary for lifting from waist to operate testing equipment
Apply force to adjust and operate testing equipment, turn knobs and cranks
Manipulate fragile parts into and out of equipment to measure size and shape
Grasp objects in order to turn, wipe, adjust instrumentation and safely use sharp instruments
Twist and turn wrists and forearms to perform inspection of optics and to operate testing equipment and computer
Bend at the neck to perform inspection and testing of optics and related equipment
PHYSICAL CLASSIFICATION OF JOB
- Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
