Scope of Role: Support sales and revenue growth by providing electrical engineering technical leadership to project teams, customers, and sales on proper product application, existing product derivatives, and new product development. This is done by gathering critical-to-application criteria from the customer to develop winning solutions that benefit the customer as well as drive increased revenue. Ownership of electrical controls, hardware, and software for compressor and system solutions development in existing and new products. Develop and deploy monitoring (DAQ, IIOT, etc.) designs for system usage in existing and new products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Designing and developing control systems and strategies to meet project requirements
Performing system diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify and correct issues
Conducting system simulations and testing to ensure functionality and performance
Developing specifications and detailed documentation for control system design
Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards
Programming and configuring PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) based systems
Calculate control system reliability (MTBF, MTTF, etc.) and establish calibration and Service interval for Control System
Providing training and technical support to maintenance staff and users
Contributing to the continuous improvement of control systems and practices
Interface with customer and sales team to clearly determine and understand criteria critical to the customer
Manage timelines and actions for larger projects and new business opportunities.
Write, perform, and review lab tests to validate product durability, performance, and suitability to customer application
Troubleshoot application or performance issues with customer product in the lab or in the field
Initiate and process documentation required to setup new product model numbers in GAST system
Own, coordinate, and oversee processing of prototypes to customers or for larger projects
Facilitate product validation process for first production builds of new models
Work with procurement department to obtain quotes on new or prototype parts
Create prototype BOMs and work with accounting department to determine accurate product cost on derivative models
Approximately 10-20% business travel to support customers and sales team
Support motor development and sourcing strategies by being team member for motor development projects and guiding on motor design and troubleshooting
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS OR EQUIVALENCIES:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field preferred, extensive experience with controls, monitoring, and electrical designs (10+ years) could be leveraged in place of BSEE or equivalent
Specifying, developing, and/or troubleshooting electrical motors is a plus
Engineering experience and knowledge in industrial manufacturing.
3+ years of work experience in related field preferred, 10+ without degree
Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Experience with controls and monitoring systems design.
Fluent in controls systems writing protocols, and databases.
Comfortable with algorithm design and programmable logic practices.
MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE :
On time delivery to project timing requirements
Tracking to project budget and Critical To Customer (CTC) requirements
Annual revenue growth targets based on launching new and derivative products
On time delivery to action item commitments through 3W tracking
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Self-motivated maintaining high ethical standard while showing initiative to anticipate/prevent issues by using advanced problem-solving skills
Demonstrates ability to work well across all levels of the organization from Senior staff to Manufacturing employees.
Interpersonal savvy with sales and marketing acumen
Ability to build followership and win respect of discerning customers
Project management experience. Ready to take ownership of entire project and willing to hold others accountable to ensure project timelines are met
Time management skills and the ability to effectively prioritize as required
Some knowledge of AC motors, air compressors and pumps preferred
Proficient in MS Office applications, experience with SolidWorks ideal but not required.
Basic understanding of how to read prints and interpret GD&T
Proactive with a strong sense of ownership and drive to success utilizing available resources
Well organized must have ability to address tactical issues in the short-term while maintaining long-term project plan
Excellent communication/presentation skills (written and verbal)
Ability to work successfully in a multi-cultural environment
