IDEX Continuous Improvement/Manufacturing Engineer in Cedar Falls, Iowa

The CI Engineer will support a dedicated Value Stream within our vertically integrated manufacturing factory within Cedar Falls, IA.


Assist in maintaining and improving Machining, Assembly, and Foundry processes and systems that affect the quality of our products. The position requires high-level technical contribution, working with minimum supervision, and continually improving standard work and the development processes.


  • Support implementation and development of one-piece flow in Assembly and Machining environments.

  • Develop sustainable continuous improvement process to support improvement of Safety, Delivery, Efficiency, Production Control, and Quality KPIs.

  • Develop robust working relationships with factory personnel and develop buy-in for strategic initiatives.

  • Capture and quantify manufacturing delays and facilitate team driving improvements to top systemic issues through a quantitative approach

  • Support improvement of production control and scheduling systems across a complex foundry, machining, and assembly environment.

  • Work in tandem with manufacturing engineering to own factory layouts, line design, and best practices.

  • Manage capital projects including financial justification, installation, and process creation.

  • Use lean engineering tools to design and optimize manufacturing processes to increase capacity for existing products and prepare for the introduction of new ones.

  • Create new standard work instructions and documentation as process changes dictate.

  • Assist in developing and implementing cost reduction initiatives through Kaizen events.

  • Champion lean systems at all levels of the organization to support robust employee engagement and GEMBA processes including problem escalation and process accountability.

  • Continually challenge conventional thinking by challenging current processes and procedures in the spirit of continuous improvement.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, manufacturing technology, business management or equivalent education and experience in a related field

  • Continuous improvement, lean experience, and/or project management in manufacturing environments required

  • Factory layout and factory mapping experience preferred


  • Requires the ability to manage multiple projects in a systematic and orderly manner.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Good organization and visualization skills

  • Possess both creativity and analytical skills

  • Ability and desire to be a change agent
