Job purpose

  • The Quality Engineer will provide hands on technical expertise on injection molding and assigned programs to ensure products are designed and manufactured in accordance with Banjo requirements. They will effectively collect and analyze data to make data driven decisions. In addition, the quality engineer will support ISO compliance, continual improvement activities and achieving company/quality goals on PPM, COPQ, engineering changes and Cost Saving/VAVE projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary

  • Collaborate with the molding department to improve the quality of components being molded by enhancing the molding process

  • Create and execute DOE projects to make the molding process robust

  • Work with the molding team to implement Mattec molding press monitoring system

  • Develop and maintain process control functions in molding to consistently produce high quality parts

  • Coordinate with Engineering and Molding teams on the approvals of new/modified tooling

  • Drive cross functional activities to execute root cause analysis, problem solving and corrective actions for quality issues found by externally or internally customers

  • Maintain accurate 8D records to support corrective and preventative actions and reporting

  • Effectively collect and evaluate data to make data driven decisions to improve quality utilizing SPC techniques

  • Conduct capability studies and Gage R&R(MSA) to derive improvement actions

  • Develop and maintain quality documents such as control plans, PFMEA, flow diagrams and work instructions

  • Support the organization with sustaining the ISO9001 QMS system

  • Submit ECR’s as needed and support ECN implementation

  • Assimilate and work with all cross functional departments to improve Quality

  • Support Quality management as needed for effective department functionality

  • Effectively produce reports or procedures as needed to optimize operations

  • Determine disposition of rejected materials, components, and devices

  • Assist with new product introduction to ensure high quality

Secondary

  • Responsible for aiding in own self-development by participation in all training made available by the company

  • Support material disposition requirements

  • Participate and support Rapid Improvement Events and Kaizen activities

  • Other assignments given by management

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with 3-4 years in quality

  • Six Sigma Greenbelt with DOE experience using Minitab

  • Able to identify, collect and interpret data via statistical methods

  • Ability to multitask and delivery expected results

  • Ability to read Blueprints and drawings

  • Proficient computer skills (Excel, Access, ERP systems)

  • Demonstrate responsibility, respect, dependability, patience, and productivity to create a positive work environment

  • Influential leadership skills to keep the team focused and prioritized

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Plastic injection molding experience

  • Knowledgeable with ISO9001:2015 requirements

  • Six Sigma Blackbelt
