Service Engineering Technician
Reporting Line:
Sr. Commercial Manager (Matcon Americas) & Aftermarket Manager (Matcon Ltd.)

Matcon, a division of IDEX MPT Inc, has been providing powder handling solutions for the processing of powders, granules and tablets using Intermediate Bulk Container technology for over 40 years. Matcon operates globally across a range of manufacturing industries, including food, nutrition, pharmaceutical, chemical and metal powders.
Overall purpose of role :
The Service Engineering Technician will be predominantly responsible for providing maintenance / service activities on our client’s sites within the North and South American territories, with the possibility of occasional worldwide travel. The engineer will also provide technical support to resolve onsite issues through breakdowns or advise on upgrades as appropriate.
This is a position that suits a confident, enthusiastic and resourceful individual who enjoys working directly with clients. Candidates who are self-motivated with high levels of Matcon product knowledge and enjoy new challenges are best suited to this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Carrying out Service / Maintenance activities at our client’s site.
Carrying out refurbishment (RMAs) of client’s equipment at Matcon Americas.
Producing spares and service quotes from time to time.
Planning & booking of travel arrangements & hotels for site visits.
Carry out risk assessments and method statements before and during visit.
Build and maintain a good working relationship with Matcon’s Preventative Maintenance Agreement (PM) and service customers. Paying special attention to our 80’s clients.
To provide advice and appropriate training to the client’s Engineers as and when required.
To undertake problem solving and troubleshooting skills as part of normal customer facing duties.
Working closely with the Service Account Managers to schedule site visits and identify future sales opportunities.
Carry out visits to main PM customers at short notice.
Complete clear, descriptive, and informative site reports promptly after each site visit for Matcon and our clients’ records.
Co-ordination of feedback to customers from various internal departments as the technical issue dictates.
Ensure weekly time sheets & expenses are submitted accurately & in a timely manner.
Always attend site and client visits in a professional manner.

Skills & Abilities:
Powder process and application knowledge.
Detailed understanding of the Matcon product range.
Fault finding and troubleshooting capability.
Ability to provide accurate and clear diagnosis of technical complaints.
Sound understanding of mechanical engineering principals.
Sound understanding of controls & instrumentation (including pneumatics).
Basic understanding of PLC hardware and software would be advantageous but not essential as training will be given.
Good understanding of essential H&S Management.
Desire to identify and complete training courses where skills need improving.
Full Clean Drivers Licence preferred.
Ability to travel at short notice.
Knowledge & Qualifications :
Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or equivalent experience
3+ years of experience in service and/or maintenance engineering is desirable.
Experience in troubleshooting
Experience in working in lab and/or industrial environment
Proven ability to manage multiple projects, customer requests an travel schedule
Customer focused with a proven track record of excellent customer satisfaction
Must be competent in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office
Training:
Shadowing of Service and Commissioning Engineers
Training on Inter Departmental Processes
Formal Electrical/Software Training as necessary
H&S Training as required
Mechanical Training as required
