IDEX Engineering Intern in Denver, Colorado

The NPD Intern will be assigned a specific project in either VA/VE or NPD that they will be responsible for delivering results as guided by their manager. The Intern will also learn about Band-It’s business and help contribute to various projects as assigned.

REPORTING TO : Product Engineer


  • Complete a material and tolerance analysis on released components to improve cost and quality.

  • Research manufacturing methods to properly design parts for manufacturability.

  • Research hardware and software to build an accelerated life testing fixture.

  • Participating in prototype builds including providing input into work instructions for the manufacturing lines.

  • Capable of reading engineering drawings and translating requirements of parts into 3D models and assemblies.

  • Perform quality checks on prototype parts to ensure the part meets the design intent.

  • Perform testing on existing and prototype tools.

  • Maintains accurate files in accordance with applicable company processes and IATF/TS/ISO standards.

  • Load new components and BOM’s into the ERP system.

  • Completes all other duties as assigned by the Director of Engineering.

  • Experience with SolidWorks and EPDM on a network environment, FEA and simulation is a strong plus.

  • Electrical background (automation, familiarity with industrial controllers and controller programming) is a strong plus.

  • Good organizational skills, able to balance work between multiple projects.

  • Strong mechanical understanding/ability.

  • The ability to visualize assemblies and translate to CAD.


College intern in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or equivalent from an accredited university.

Physical Demands:

  • Requires use of hands and arms at least 90% of the time.

  • Majority of the time is spent sitting.

  • Lifting requirements are generally less than 10 lbs. Manual lifting could reach the company maximum of 50 lbs.

  • Working with tools and machinery to build and troubleshoot new products.

Work Environment:

  • Climate-controlled office environment.

  • Noise exposure is moderate.

Mental/Visual Demands:

  • Close vision and the ability to adjust focus are required to perform the job functions.

  • Peripheral vision is required for safety.

  • The estimated compensation for this position is $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
