Overview :

Matcon, a division of IDEX MPT Inc, has been providing powder handling solutions for the processing of powders, granules and tablets using Intermediate Bulk Container technology for over 40 years. Matcon operates globally across a range of manufacturing industries, including food, nutrition, pharmaceutical, chemical and metal powders.

Key Duties:

• Conceptual design of integrated process systems

• Preparing detailed cost estimates and outline specifications

• Assisting Sales present/sell the solution to clients when required

• Writing detailed functional design specifications

• Maintaining the standard portfolio of functional design specifications

• Design of system architecture, network connections and interfaces primarily Ethernet, Devicenet and Profibus.

• Producing detailed manufacturing specifications, including controls and panel drawings, both for electrical and pneumatic systems utilising an ACAD Electrical design package.

• Production of PLC software (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi as a minimum)

• Production of software in a modular and function orientated manner

• Production of HMI software

• Familiarity with SCADA

• Organisation and execution of component and system tests, both in our works and on site

• Developing new products and methods of control

• Carry out regular reviews to ensure project objectives are achieved

• Development of standard software modules to improve company efficiency

• Develop and maintain standard documentation associated with controls systems such as FDS, SDS and basic electrical drawings

• Liaising with suppliers on production of outsourced items such as control panels and system software.

• Ensure all work is executed in accordance with the Quality Management System

• Assist in other areas of the business as required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• An excellent problem solver with at least 5 years Engineering experience gained within the process industry.

• Great design flair, be able to demonstrate an impressive portfolio of previous work

• A good understanding of controls systems and manufacturing methods

• Familiar with current legislation and best practice

• Experienced in the use of computer aided design and software development

• Excellent communicator, both written and verbal.

• Self-motivated, can work on own initiative, or as part of a team

• Enthusiastic, well organised and has an attention for detail

• A willingness to work flexible hours and overseas travel when required

• Qualified with a good electrical/controls Engineering degree

Training:

• Functional training on areas such as ACAD and other software tools will be provided

• Training on internal systems and procedures specific for the role will be provided as required

• Compliance training will be provided where required, including CE, ATEX and other legislative training

• Ongoing training will be agreed on as required

Location : Matcon Head Office, Evesham, Worcs, UK

There is a requirement to attend events and trade shows around the world to meet customers and for fact-finding. Typically, between 4-6 days including occasional weekends away.
