_Design/Application Engineer

REPORTS TO:

Engineering Manager

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

To provide product engineering support to sales, quality control, engineering and production departments

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design/Develop/Improve new or existing products

  • Prepare engineering assembly, 3D models and drawings with Bill of Materials and customer specific information for individual projects or orders using SolidWorks computer aided design software

  • Design, produce and maintain detail machine drawings and 3D models for individual valve components and/or accessory mounting using SolidWorks computer aided design software

  • Perform hand calculations as required for new components

  • Conduct Flow Simulations to determine valve flow coefficients (Cv values), using SolidWorks computer aided design software

  • Recommend and implement continuous improvement ideas for Richter products

  • Provide Engineering Support to Sales Department

  • Provide pre-sales technical expertise to customers and inside/outsides sales teams during the sales process. This includes valve sizing utilizing Design Flow Solutions (Crane) and Spaix programs, providing technical documents, determining the best product for particular applications, and reviewing/ensuring customer specifications are or can be met

  • Create/Enter/Edit new item numbers into the JDE manufacturing software program

  • Perform pump sizing calculations as required by customers and sales team using Spaix program.

  • Assist Sales Team with process pump technical questions/inquiries

  • Assist QA Department with providing/maintaining documentation

  • Perform PMI analysis and creates reports using a Thermo Fisher Scientific Niton X-Ray Analyzer

  • Assist QA department with measuring and recording dimensional info of parts and assemblies using a Faro coordinate measuring system arm

  • Conduct Failure Analysis of products returned due to problems in the field, and develop reports based on findings with the determined root cause of the issue, and corrective actions to be implemented

  • Assist with creating and maintaining IOM’s, Assembly, Shipping, Painting, Testing and other ISO/QA Procedures

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

· BSME Degree from an engineering accredited university

· 3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred

OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Self-motivated, excellent organizational and planning skills

· Ability to communicate effectively with customers, suppliers and all company department personnel

· Ability to shift priorities and focus when required

· Willing to work hands-on in a shop environment

COMPUTER SKILLS:

· Proficient with Microsoft Office products

· Very familiar with Solidworks - 3D Modeling and Drawing software

· Some experience with Solidworks or other flow simulation program

WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:

· Must wear steel toe shoes (company provided) when in certain manufacturing areas

· Must wear safety glasses (company provided) when in certain manufacturing areas

· Must be safety conscious
