Delivers the segment product plans, develops marketing and pricing for products and added value services in the Energy Market Segment. The primary objective of the job is to maximize the revenue and margin generated by the addressable market segments by developing Sealing Solutions for strategic customers and providing Internal and External Customer Support with focus on Material Testing, Qualification and Approvals with industry bodies or organizations. In order to achieve this, the Field Market Development Engineer will work closely with the Product Manager and Commercial Team to drive engagement, develop materials, products and customer sales plans to drive maximum penetration at OEM strategic accounts in the Energy market Segment.
REPORTS TO: Houston Commercial Leader/ Product Manager
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contributes to the understanding of the macro economic trends, competitive trends and specific dynamics in the Energy market segment.
Builds a detailed understanding of Energy Industry requirements for material and products.
Drive PPE Material Testing, Qualification and Specification at major Energy End Users, whilst working closely with the Commercial Teams to ensure pull-through of materials/products across the entire supply chain
Proactively liaises with both the internal organization and Channel Partners to leverage the commercial opportunities resulting from the qualification of products and services.
Using an understanding of material properties, engineering principals and application knowledge, provides technical proposals and engineered solutions to meet strategic customer specifications following the RFQ process.
Provide pre- and post-sales technical support for internal and external strategic customers.
Works closely with the Energy segment Sales Teams, and joins in customer visits to promote PPE qualified materials and products, and assists in the development of Key Account Plans and proposals.
Works closely with materials, technical and operations functions along with identified third party suppliers to develop and industrialize products and services which are specific to the Energy market segment. Ensures that such products meet market/industry requirements.
Works with sales leadership to execute global pricing structures and strategies.
Builds strong customer relationships, assists in sales visits, make presentations and develops market insights.
Contributes to the execution of ISS’s strategy for growing the business with maximum profitability.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors of Science or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline. Prefer a Masters of Science of an engineering discipline.
Knowledge of dynamic sealing solutions or related products highly desirable.
5+ years experience working in global Energy markets.
Experienced in the design, development and validation of elastomer based sealing solutions.
Experienced in creating technical proposals to strategic customers to support commercial activities.
Ideally experienced in understanding and growing market segments. Able to appreciate the specific factors for success in the Energy market segment; dealing either with OEMs or with Channel Partners.
Experience working with distributed/remotely located technical & commercial teams.
Fluent with the use of 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferable), Salesforce and MS Office products.
Experienced problem solver familiar with Design of Experiment (DOE) approach to solving technical challenges.
Understanding of 80/20 principles & implementation thereof.
Willing to travel (around 40-50%) to attend meetings, work with global sales teams, visit customers, etc.
Team player with a proven track record in technical Business Development within a collaborative environment.
Proven track record in designing, developing and validating sealing solutions and test regimes in line with sales strategies for strategic customers.
Ideally experienced in a broad range of Energy segments, processes and applications.
Familiar with processes and tools related to strategic, consultative selling and value selling.
Ability to work across multiple functions and teams within the business. Able to motivate and mobilize individuals and teams behind strategies to maximize the commercial success of ISS.
Highly focused and committed to meeting sales and margin targets from specified product lines. Able to analyze and overcome barriers in the way of meeting or exceeding monthly/quarterly/yearly growth targets.
Confident and credible when working with internal and external groups at all levels. Able to use their knowledge and credibility to influence individuals and teams to achieve the desired outcomes.
