IDEX Mechanical Engineering Technician in Mansfield, Ohio

Summary: Contribute to the technical duties of Engineering. This will include exposure and assignment to various engineering functions of a manufacturing business over multiple work assignments.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and assist in the setup and completion of various tests, including pump performance tests, pump hydrostatic tests, pump suction lift tests, pump noise level tests, and other special tests as requested

  • Assist in the development of new products and related components by proposing design concepts and by preparing design layouts, 3D solid models, assemblies, and engineering drawings

  • Support R&D efforts by performing experiments and fabricating prototypes

  • Perform various Mechanical Engineering design calculations

  • Assist in the planning, scheduling and reporting of project activities; maintain appropriate engineering records for all project work

  • Assist in the compilation and maintenance of various engineering documentation: including BOM’s, drawings, performance curves, charts, engineering data, ECN’s, product related correspondence and literature

  • Participate in design reviews

  • Assist in the troubleshooting of customer and pump quality issues

  • Provide technical support to QA and Manufacturing

Other Responsibilities:

Process Owner’s Minimum Requirements:

Education:

  • Associate’s degree in engineering or a related field from a two-year technical school

Specific skills, knowledge, and/or licenses:

  • Knowledge of various manufacturing processes, including machining, assembly, casting, injection molding

  • Strong technical aptitude

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills

  • Ability to fabricate custom test fixtures

  • Microsoft Word and Excel experience

  • Technical report writing and general written communication skills

  • Solid model CAD skills (SolidWorks) will be preferred

Working Conditions:

  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and sit for extended periods of time

  • Noise levels vary from office environment to test lab and manufacturing floor
