IDEX Test Engineer in Mansfield, Ohio

Position Summary :

The Test Engineer is a highly cross-functional and collaborative role which will require the candidate to have a high mechanical/electrical aptitude with experience in equipment development, product testing, and calibration. This role is crucial for both sustaining and new product development initiatives, which involves creating new testing procedures and focusing on accelerated testing.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Interpret Work Orders, Test Requests and plan for timely completion

  • Gather and understand product/test requirements

  • Thorough understanding and hands on experience with sensor/transducers of all kinds

  • Recommend and provide necessary equipment required for testing

  • Record results, analyze and recommend countermeasure, product improvement and development

  • Conduct MSA/Gauge R&R studies on current and new test equipment/products (Six Sigma)

  • Understands and applies 5S Principles to the engineering lab and office area

Other Job Responsibilities:

  • PIC (Person in Charge) while the Engineering Lab Manager is away

  • Ability to use CAE for fixturing and equipment development

  • Hands-on experience with programming in LabVIEW, PLC or SCADA

  • Capability of conducting Design of Experiments and Weibull analysis

  • Understand ISO standards and procedures to develop new and improve on current testing requirements

  • Build relationships with other team members within Warren Rupp, while effectively communicating new ideas

  • Work directly with engineering technicians, engineers and managers

  • Provides feedback to product engineering and engineering managers on key development projects

  • Carry out special assignments, as deemed necessary by the Engineering Lab Manager

  • Assist in training of personnel in safe work environments/conditions


  • BS in engineering or 5 or more years of applicable experience

  • Basic understanding in Electronics and computers

  • Basic understanding in Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics

  • Basic understanding in Hydraulics

  • Basic machine abilities desired

  • Ability to properly lift heavy objects (50lbs or more)
