IDEX Manufacturing Engineer Supervisor in Middleboro, Massachusetts

The Engineering Supervisor plays a critical leadership role in overseeing engineering teams and ensuring the successful planning, execution, and completion of projects. This role focuses on supervising personnel, driving team performance, optimizing workflow efficiency, and maintaining quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. The supervisor is responsible for coordinating cross-functional efforts, resolving operational challenges, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Leadership & Development
Provide guidance and mentorship to engineers, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
Establish clear performance expectations and offer coaching to support professional growth.
Conduct regular reviews to assess progress and create opportunities for skill development.
Ensure the team has access to the necessary tools, training, and resources for success.
Support task allocation and workflow organization to optimize efficiency and maintain high-quality outcomes.
Project Oversight & Execution
Supervise engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Monitor progress, proactively resolve challenges, and maintain project timelines.
Enforce adherence to quality standards, cost targets, and engineering best practices.
Oversee development of assembly procedures, technical documentation, and data analysis.
Guide tooling and fixture design, ensuring manufacturability and precision.
Support CNC machining processes, assembly operations, and validation activities.
Provide oversight on engineering processes involving hard materials such as ceramics, ruby, sapphire, and glass, ensuring production efficiency.
Support proper training and best practices for grinding and lapping equipment operation.
Support the implementation of high-volume automation systems, overseeing maintenance and optimization to improve manufacturing efficiency.
Technical Leadership & Decision Making
Offer technical expertise on engineering methodologies, including DOE, FMEA, and DMAIC.
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts, patents, and proprietary processes.
Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to resolve engineering challenges.
Provide guidance on fluid control and electro-mechanical devices such as pumps, sensors, solenoid/rotary valves, and related test equipment.
Oversee the specification, procurement, and implementation of automated equipment, ensuring validation processes like IQOQPQ are followed.
Strategic Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
Act as the liaison between engineering teams, leadership, and external partners.
Lead structured meetings to align priorities and project objectives.
Present technical findings to varied audiences, ensuring clarity and engagement.
Generate reports summarizing resolutions, technical developments, and project updates.
Customer & Cross-Functional Interaction
Represent the engineering team in discussions with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
Address client inquiries professionally, ensuring alignment with project milestones and objectives.
Lead discussions on technical feasibility, engineering challenges, and solutions.
Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.
Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies to drive operational enhancements.
Oversee corrective action initiatives and ensure swift resolution of production inefficiencies.
Support qualification of new materials and validation of manufacturing processes.
Promote a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and accountability.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related discipline).
Engineering experience in a manufacturing or product development environment.
Leadership or supervisory experience in an engineering or technical role.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
Proficiency in 3D CAD design, tooling development, and technical documentation.
Experience working with JD Edwards or similar enterprise resource planning software to manage engineering and production workflows.
Understanding of ergonomic practices in workplace design and process optimization.
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers.
Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with fluid control and electro-mechanical devices, including pumps, sensors, solenoid/rotary valves, and related test equipment.
Experience with hard materials manufacturing (Ceramics, Ruby, Sapphire, Glass) and related production processes is a plus.
Exposure to grinding and lapping equipment, with an understanding of best practices, is beneficial but not required.
