Advanced Flow Systems (AFS) includes the Liquid Controls and Corken branded products that make fluid transfer safe, accurate, and efficient. Liquid Controls primarily provide metering, fluid handling and data ecosystem for truck-based custody transfer of highly valuable fuels. They have product solutions to support other downstream oil & gas custody transfer applications as well. Corken offers a wide variety of industrial compression and pumping solutions for the process, energy, and transport industries. Applications include autogas filling stations, bulk plant pumps, tank car unloading, delivery truck, and transport. AFS is headquartered in Oklahoma City, OK and sales/service office in Chicago, IL and an employee base of approximately 220+.

The Global Director, Engineering is a key member of the Advanced Flow Solutions senior leadership team and is responsible for providing guidance, oversight, and strategically leveraging our global team to innovate the technical products of the business.

Technical Overview

In collaboration with the AFS Commercial team, you’ll develop the strategic plan for the businesses and establish a robust new product development (NPD) and product improvement processes to deliver and enhance solutions that are relevant and superior for our customers. Our solutions are focused on transitioning from mechanical and electrical products to systems that allow customers to improve operational efficiency, support ESG goals and reduce costs through real-time data.

This role also participates in system-level requirements analysis, cost estimation, design reviews and other team development processes. Success will require deep knowledge of compression and pumping solutions, metering technologies, and for you to keep abreast of new and emerging technologies in this space, seeking to leverage IoT solutions to differentiate product offerings and uniquely solve customer problems. Along with utilization of appropriate CAD tools to design and analyze product functionality and integrity in order to facilitate rapid deployment cycle and time to the market.

Leadership & Collaboration Overview

You’ll be responsible for building a world class engineering organization across the business, as well as a network of external engineering consultants. You’ll lead a team of technical experts to coordinate all engineering activities for the business.

As a member of the AFS Staff, you’ll be involved in high level strategic decisions, and you’ll collaborate with other business functions including Product Management, Quality, Tech Support, Sales and Marketing, and Operations.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Seen as a key technical leader for Energy Group level to champion product technology roadmap for Energy Transition in conjunction with business unit GMs and Market/Product Leaders

  • Maintain an understanding of macro technical trends in the Energy industry, customer trends, competitive product trends and industry regulations capable of formulating action plans to deliver on business needs based on data and overall strategy.

  • Leader for technical assessment on determining product acquisition & development capabilities and needs to deliver both organic and inorganic growth targets across AFS and Energy group strategic projects

  • Work directly with global commercial and technical leaders at IDEX to deploy solutions or determine local needs and support requirements to hit strategic growth objectives for each region

  • Change management for NPD and Sustaining engineering teams to pivot organization from cost-out and long NPD cycle to growth capability through forward thinking product design and nimble development that meets all requirements of performance, reliability, safety, cost and manufacturability.

  • Execution of necessary organizational design and talent assessment to set organization up for success and necessary capabilities to meet strategic initiatives

  • Develop internal process and structure to drive technical pivot to systems solutions that are able to quickly adapt and stay at necessary pace for market needs

  • The ability to cross boundaries and develop strong relationships with our pre and post sales team leaders to drive necessary technology solutions to meet customer needs

  • Act as a senior technical representative at events and meetings with major customers, suppliers and trade organizations.

  • Establish a complementary network of external knowledge consultants and development capability to build an overall Variable Engineering model for the Energy Group business units.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required, electrical or software related field preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience in a commercial growth focused manufacturing organization

  • 5+ years working with global teams as the technical leader

  • Demonstrated experiences in leading product development (NPD), Product Cost Out and Sustaining Engineering in electro-mechanical companies

  • Demonstrated experiences with leading change, developing technology roadmaps and successfully launching products into the market that have delivered growth to the business
