Summary:

The Manager – Engineering and Quality is responsible for all activities of the manufacturing engineering and quality department. This position will work very closely with Manufacturing, Production Control, Quality, and R&D.

The successful incumbent will possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and have a minimum of 10 years of progressive responsibility in an engineering, product development, quality or manufacturing environment. This individual will also have a solid background in technical, theoretical, and practical aspects of product & process development, process validation, statistical process control, DOE, and manufacturing methods. High levels of technical writing, three-dimensional CAD design, and extensive interactive & problem-solving skills are also required.

Description:

  • Design & Process Development: Responsible for analyzing all customer supplied drawings, sketches, and solid models to develop appropriate outputs that will include but are not limited to quote generation; manufacturing method & system design; associated tooling & fixturing; capital equipment specification & installation; test standards & methods; routers; operations sheets; inspection sheets; SOP’s; and other relevant documentation.

  • Project Management: Responsible for meeting project deadlines, identifying project creep and working with all relevant parties (plant & customer) to resolve any issues, keeping all projects on budget, vendor sourcing & quoting, managing the overall project system design.

  • Personnel Management: Responsible for identifying personnel & staffing requirements within the project scope and subsequently participating in any required recruitment process. Will also be required to directly participate and lead any employee training required.

  • Communication: Responsible for both written or oral communication with the customer as well as internal management and other team members to provide project status as needed. May be required to develop and maintain individual project binders as the principal means of data collection, management, and archiving. Microsoft Project to be employed as the primary project-scheduling tool.

  • Leadership: Responsible for contributing to company improvements and company policy; directing project resources to ensure schedule attainment; following and developing ISO procedures as required; and facilities planning & improvement.

Qualifications:

  • In depth knowledge of regulatory standards such as ISO 9001:2015, 13485, TUV, NFPA or FDA CFR 820.

  • Ability to generate manufacturing procedures for machining & assembly, qualification and validation plans, test protocols, and technical reports.

  • Ability to apply problem solving techniques.

  • Demonstrated aptitude for hands-on engineering.

  • Ability to establish priorities and have high sense of urgency to meet project timelines.

  • Ability to identify problems and develop robust corrective actions.

  • Ability to work in a team environment both as a leader and team member.

  • Ability to identify vendors for externally manufactured components and services and negotiates pricing.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
