Position Summary:

The primary function of this position is to develop short and long-term sourcing strategies to achieve company goals regarding on-time delivery, cost reduction needs, supplier consolidation targets and day-to-day purchasing expectations. A Quadro Sourcing Engineer is also accountable to apply engineering principles to compare, test and approve sample parts derived from their activities as well as others in the department. This role will operate independent project plans and be accountable to report on those regularly.

Reports To: Director of Supply Chain, Logistics and Materials Management

Essential Functions:

Position requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop, implement and maintain commodity supply chain strategies to achieve 3% year-on-year cost and as well as other business objectives such as yearly supplier consolidation

  • Source, evaluate and qualify world-class suppliers to meet our long-term production requirements

  • Support supplier development post-production launch to ensure adequate performance

  • Develop and negotiate supplier agreements with key 80’s suppliers

  • Develop test plans and enact those plans for sample parts

  • Collaborate with other Engineering resources and Quality on part test plans, results and production approval

  • Develop and maintain effective business relationships with all supplier partners

  • Support all new product development activities

  • Provide leadership and support internally to purchasing staff

  • Develop a deep understanding of the supply base and its technologies

  • Keep abreast of current and emerging technologies as well as their business implications

  • Develop and implement cost reduction strategies to achieve yearly cost targets

  • Work closely with the supplier quality team to ensure all suppliers meet our quality needs

Computer Skills:

  • MRP/ERP experience required (Visual, SAP, Oracle, etc.)

  • Intermediate-level skills required in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Language Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication required. Ability to interact clearly and confidently with all levels in the organization.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Post-secondary Engineering diploma or degree

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related discipline (materials management, supply chain management, or business) considered an asset

  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive supply chain management experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Minimum of 2 years in an Engineering based role

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Purchasing/Materials Industry Certifications (CSCMP, CPIM, CSCP, CCLP, etc.) considered an asset

Other Qualifications:

  • Excellent negotiation skills are a must

  • A strong team player with experience working in cross-functional teams is a must

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Strong problem analysis and resolution skills

  • Committed to continuous improvement within the supply chain

  • The ability to multitask and prioritize those tasks
