Mission: Manufacturing Engineer – Optical Systems
The Optical Systems Manufacturing Engineer will be a key resource for the Manufacturing Engineering team, participating in new production introduction from R&D to Manufacturing, optimizing manufacturing processes, instructions, and training for optical assembly. The Optical Systems Manufacturing Engineer will also serve as a mentor and consultant for technicians who are assigned to trouble-shoot problems in manufacturing.
The Optical Systems Manufacturing Engineer will be part of the high-performance Manufacturing Engineering team to optimize and deploy new products to the manufacturing department. This engineer is expected to quickly master new technologies, optimize the technologies, document processes, and train technicians and production staff to properly execute the processes. The Engineer will work with the Quality team to investigate and initiate corrective action to manufacturing problems arising in the manufacture of one or more of the following: optical components, parts and materials, assembly of optical, mechanical, assemblies, subsystems and systems.

Desired Skills and experience
Optical table-top setup and alignment
Ability to implement equipment & procedures necessary to assemble, test, and contribute to the manufacture of high-performance imaging systems
Experience with assembly and testing using optical test equipment in manufacturing environment
Knowledge of optical and electrical test equipment such as power meters, spectrum analyzers, interferometers, CCD/CMOS cameras, and photodiodes
Understandalignment/manufacturing capabilities by measuring process outputs and conducting data analysis
Developingnew manufacturing processes
Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, and statistical process control (SPC)
BS inMechanicalEngineering, or Optics with a minimum 4 years industrial experience in manufacturing
Proficient with CAD software(SolidWorks)
Proficient withMatlaband MS office
Experience writing detailed work instructions and demonstrated success in training manufacturing personnel

Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization
Production labor efficiency after hand-off tomanufacturing
Minimum amountof R&D support neededafter release to manufacturing
Projectsdelivered on time and within budget
