JOB TITLE: Quality Engineering Technician – CMM Programmer

REPORTING TO: Director of Quality Assurance

LOCATION: West Henrietta, NY

ITAR/EAR CRITERIA:

SCOPE OF ROLE:

The QE Technician’s holds primary responsibility to develop, maintain, and generate CMM programs used to inspect and verify production materials and components. Review blueprints and specifications to establish correct inspection criteria following best practices. Complete complex dimensional inspection on components to assure compliance with drawings/specifications on both mechanical and optical components. The QE technician will develop and document inspection methods and sampling plans. Performs receiving inspection systems troubleshooting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Coordinate and support all activities for Zeiss CMM, including programming utilizing CALYPSO software, troubleshooting, planned maintenance, annual certifications, repairs, and upgrades

  • Performs inspection and test on in-process assemblies according to blueprints, specifications and documents

  • Confers with technical personnel and department supervisors to report and resolve inspection and testing problems

  • Report and document non-conformances, CARs, and continuous improvements

  • Participates in and documents material review board dispositions

  • Completes all documentation necessary for and relevant to the receiving inspection activities

  • Assists receiving inspectors in resolving technical problems

  • Support Quality Engineering with defect investigations and other support as required

  • Inspection of optical components

  • Specifies and assists in procuring required inspection instruments

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate degree (A.A. or A.A.S.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school

  • Minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Proficient in geometric tolerance symbology and blueprint interpretation

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

  • Experience with Zeiss CALYPSO software

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
