IDEX R&D Manager in West Jordan, Utah

Our R&D Manager is responsible for the overall planning, direction, leadership, and administration of the R&D Engineering Department. Their main focus is to develop new products, providing sales and production with answers, and maintain key OEM engineering contracts. This individual will actively participate on the WP OEM Team in planning, direction, business growth and policy making. Success is achieved by balancing the requirements and constraints from all customers (internal and external) to see products from concept to full release.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Lead and manage a team of research and development engineers to drive innovation and product development.

  • Oversee the entire R&D process, from concept to implementation, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

  • Foster a collaborative and creative work environment, encouraging the team to explore new ideas and technologies.

  • Develop and implement R&D strategies aligned with the company's goals and market trends.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless integration of R&D efforts.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, promoting professional growth and skill development.

  • Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies that can enhance product performance and maintain a competitive edge.

  • Monitor industry trends and competitors to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project requirements, milestones, and deliverables.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Lead or participate in special projects and assignments, as directed

  • Write LabView software for production and engineering test equipment

  • Outline and run customer application testing

  • Improve engineering by implementing ISO, DFSS, and PVM along with established standards and procedures.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Write by hand and keyboard

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills required

  • Visual acuity needed for close detail work and computer use

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.

  • Proven experience in R&D management, with a track record of successfully bringing products from concept to market. '

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a technical team.

  • Excellent project management abilities, including resource allocation, budgeting, and timeline management.

  • In-depth knowledge of engineering principles, design methodologies, and the product development life cycle.

  • Experience working in a semiconductor fabrication plant is a plus

  • Effective communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards, regulations, and compliance requirements.

  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities to address challenges and optimize R&D processes.
