Role Summary:

Under direction of the Engineering Director, the Senior Product Development

Engineer will have the opportunity to design and develop the next

generation of firefighting devices. Serving Fire, Military, and Industrial

firefighting customers within the Life Safety market, our products must

have reliable performance and manufacturability. The Sr. Product

Development Engineer will generate compelling new ideas and technologies,

while bringing them to market through disciplined product development

process execution.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Design, develop, test, and document new firefighting apparatus for globalFire, Military, and Industrial firefighting markets.

  • Proactively drive all aspects of development projects to meet designspecifications, manufacturability, cost targets, and schedules.

  • Develop 3D Models, tolerance stack-ups, structural and water flowanalyses for new designs.

  • Ensure designs are thoroughly tested with production test procedures anduser operating instructions complete and ready for product launch.

Secondary Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide Operations Team support for internal and external manufacturing,serving as technical expert.

  • Support Product Management Team with voice of customer research and thedevelopment of detailed new product specifications.

  • Assist Technical Service Department by driving quick identification ofproduct failure modes and countermeasures.

  • Provide mechanical failure analysis support for customer returns andwarrantied products.


Experience and Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.

  • 7 years of experience with established track record in product design.

  • 3D CAD experience required. Pro-E/Creo preferred. Solidworks experience aplus.

  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience required.

  • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) experience a plus.

  • Working knowledge of electronics and hydraulic systems.

  • Experience with casting and machining processes.

  • Plastics material knowledge and component design experience desired.
